The Lovely Savalas!
The savalas! were born in the summer of 2005 in Sangemini (Terni
ITALY) in the minds of Giangi (ex dasa-zert, jerky monkey), Paco (ex
dasa-zert), Zino (ex youth oy-s) and Amir (ex jumpin shoes and jerky
monkey). Their live experience starts when they end second in a
"battle of the Bands" which took place in the 2005 edition of the
Ephebia Festival in Terni, quickly becoming one of the best musical
bands in town. Like ants, The Savalas! Immediately start to work and
make their first EP with five tracks, called "Hot Dog For Frank»,
the title being borne in the genius and visionary mind of Amir
Billal, the singer from Sudanese extraction, surprising both with
his lyrics and with his performance on stage (he gives away on every
concert flowers and poetry). The career of "The Savalas!» goes on
with concerts around the centre of Italy and more, and with their
participation to Rockaria 2005 in Eboli and to the Notti Bianche
(White Nights) in Perugia in front of a large audience. Towards the
end of October 2005, DJ Mik becomes a member of the family, in
charge of the samples and the keyboards. He gives the band a new
direction and with him we reach a new balance and an incredible
sound. The sound of The Savalas! Is not easy to define ...and here
we quote a review published on a portal in Genova: " One can find
rock, punk rock, and progressive rock and the result is somewhat
cross over, something crazy that reminds me of the genius bands of
British pop. I could go on for hours ...----------Alessio Rassi «In
other words, a sort of Free rock or Mood Music, that is a music
affects the mood of the listener and the atmosphere. "Hot Dog For
Frank" has also called the attention of an American label, "Above
Ground Records", with which we should in no time be doing a split,
together with two other American bands. In the meantime, The Savalas!
cant wait to go back to the studio for the recording of their new
album, co produced with Alex Beltrames Skul studio.
