Avitia
By combining element of groove-soaked hip-hop, punk-funk, and
ambient space rock, AVITIA is a band that easily gels to any crowd
or venue. AVITIA is not just a crossover hybrid, they are true
artists committed to the crafting of a wide variety of styles.
They also deliver the tunes with pure conviction and emotional
savvy. The lyrical content is passionate, personal and
occasionally in Spanish. Having bursted onto the Southern
California music scene by playing their first two shows at the world
famous Whisky A Go Go and the Viper Room in Hollywood, AVITIA is
poised to charge forward into a great musical legacy. The story
begins when lead singer/guitarist Tony Avitia was an emcee for the
Houston Slip-Hop band I-45. I-45 had the privilege of touring
extensively in the late 90's early 2000's with such acts as KRS-ONE,
Blink 182, Kid Rock, Linkin Park and many others. As an active
performer and songwriter during those years, Avitia recorded
numerous songs and finally released the debut AVITIA CD, Apartment
15, in 2005 with San Diego indie label Above Ground Records.
It was a mix of rock, rhymes, and unstoppable melodies. In
2007, with the disbanding of I-45, the AVITIA project has become a
solid priority and writing and perform music has become a full time
Endeavour. Having been compared to Jack Johnson, The White Stripes,
Sublime, and the Beastie Boys, AVITIA's dynamic influences inspire
songwriting and commitment to setting new boundaries in the world of
music. AVITIA released their latest EP, Oceanside Blvd, in
February and their touring base of cities is expanding. The
band is currently in the studio working on their third full-length
album, set to be released in late 2008. In addition to the music,
the live show is growing to be a huge spectacle of entertainment.
Recordings are only as good as the live show and the AVITIA live
experience promises to leave those who see it, in awe.
